ABOUT KAYLA
Kayla Thompson is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning journalist from Brandon, MS. She joined the WJTV news team in June 2020 and is the host of "Live at 9", 12 News at 6am, and "The Morning 'Sip". When she is not on television, Kayla is a speaker, host, and author. Her book, "Master of the Pivot" was released on October 7th, 2025, and was a #1 New Release and #2 Best Seller. Kayla is a member of the 50 Under Fifty: Mississippi's Top Urban Elite Professionals Inaugural class. She is a 2018 graduate of Jacksonville State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While at Jacksonville State, Kayla was a member of both the soccer and track teams all four years. She also received the JSU’s highest athletic honor, “The Eagle Owl Award”, for her work on and off the field as well as in the community.
